Neil Buchan Grant - Bio

I'm a UK based unit stills photographer, trained by veteran stills photographer Nicola Dove (No Time to Die)  Currently living in the Cotswolds, working in London and across the UK.

Unit Stills: Always ready to adapt and respond to the dynamic pace of a film set, my drive to create powerful marketing images and insightful BTS is balanced with a respect for crew and cast boundaries. I am also adept at creating studio shots for a production’s key art and poster requirements

Background: I started out as an editorial travel photographer working across Europe for one of the world's leading travel publishers. This led to working as a brand ambassador with Olympus Cameras who commissioned me to create fashion stills in New York, Portugal, Hungary and Cuba. My work won many awards including British Travel Press Photographer of the Year. After a further 5 years teaching photography workshops  in locations such as Russia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Germany, Italy and India, I found my way to working with theatre groups and eventually shooting unit stills on film sets.

Personal Inspiration: I love photographing drama and beauty and most of all capturing great light! For over 20 years I've been so lucky to shoot travel, portraits, fashion, music, theatre, dance and now film. I've met many kind and talented individuals who have helped me along the way. I'm also a huge dog lover and I'll never miss a chance to capture one, whether its on the street or in my studio.

Location: Cheltenham offers great access to London, Bristol, Birmingham and the Cotswolds, but I'm very happy to work anywhere.

COVID: I'm triple vaxed and test regularly

Photographic Influences: Lillian Bassman, Saul Leiter, Irving Penn, Helmut Newton, Elliot Erwitt, Nick Knight, Art Streiber, Jaap Buitendijk, Nick Wall, Nicola Dove, Sarah van Rij

Cinema Influences: The Coen Brothers, Wes Anderson, Pedro Almodovar, Mike Leigh and Denis Villeneuve

Terms: My day rate remains flexible depending on the project and I sometimes work for selected charities but in general, I do not work for free
